Mood Theme Tutorial
Here we are going to find out how to upload custom mood themes into Livejournal
and I am going to use the Lost Mood Theme available here for example.
Go to your Admin Console and type in the following:
moodtheme_create "jenn_lost and chelsea0403's Lost mood theme" "Based on the hit tv show"
Click Execute, your next page should say "Success. Your new moodthemeid=#." WRITE DOWN
THIS NUMBER AND DONT CLOSE THIS WINDOW!
Many times when you download a custom mood theme it will be in a
zipped folder, unzip this folder.
Inside the folder you should find a text document with coding, if not,
then the person didn't take the time to do it for you. Although, in our case
you have one. It is named 1LostMoodTheme and should be at the very top. Open
up this document.
Before going on with the document though go back to the folder with the pictures
in it. Upload (Save) all of these pictures into Photobucket or into your personal
site. Sounds like a lot of work, but Photobucket lets you upload 19 pictures
at once so it should only take a few minutes.
Go back to the text document in Notepad, highlight the first part of the link
in the coding...this is the only part you should have to change since the last part
of the link should be the same. Click here for picture: Click me
Copy the link from your host (photobucket) and paste only the first part of the link
into the area you saw highlighted.
Go up to Edit --> Replace, this is what you need to do now. Take the first part of the
link you just pasted, if you are confused as to what I mean, I mean say your mood theme
picture is saved as
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/youraccount/aggravated.jpg
take off only the aggravated.jpg part and you are left with:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/youraccount/
I'm going to use that as an example for the rest of this tutorial. In Edit --> Replace
put the link as I showed above (although your link, the one without the aggravated.jpg)
in the Find area, and http://www.yoursite.com/LostMoodTheme/
in the replace box. Your replace box should look similar to this: Click here
Click Replace All
Remember that number I told you to write down earlier? We need that now. SO, in the coding
highlight this
number.
Go to Edit --> Replace, in this case the number we are replacing is 13847, so put that
number in the "Find what:" Box. In the "Replace with" box put in the number that you
wrote down earlier.
Okay, done with the coding, so go to Edit --> Select All, and Edit --> Copy
If you were smart and actually read what I said ;) you would still have your admin
console page open. Paste ALL of this coding into your admin console and hit Execute.
Now that you've got your new mood theme inserted you should go here.
In the drop down menu where you usually pick your mood theme, choose "jenn_lost and chelsea0403's Lost mood theme".
It's at the end of the list.
Click "Save Changes".
Your mood theme should be working!! Yay!
If not, then something went wrong in the process. Did you get confused?? If so E-mail me and
tell me where you got confused so I can try to fix this area of the tutorial.
